Dear friends and customers,

In light of the sad news that COVID-19 has reached our shores, our thoughts and prayers are with those who now face an uphill battle against this terrible disease. Equally important is the question of what WE, as a business, as consumers, and as a community, can do about it.

The government has issued an advisory for private businesses to cease operations for the next few weeks. Therefore, effective immediately, SCOOT Café will be closed until it is deemed safe to reopen, as part of our commitment to ensuring that the hygiene and safety standards of our establishment remain up to par. We have also made the decision not to offer takeaway or delivery services, because we are all too aware that every moment we spend in operations could put you, our customers, at an incrementally higher risk of exposure, and that is a chance that we will absolutely will not take.

We also strongly encourage you to exercise the same level of caution and diligence in your own daily routine, in order to minimize the risk to yourselves and your loved ones.

We cannot stress enough that this is NOT a time for blame, finger-pointing, and outright discrimination towards anyone who may or may not be infected by the coronavirus. This is a global issue, and every single one of us should play our part in ensuring that it doesn't get worse.

We thank the members of the medical community for their tireless efforts and dedication. We hope that with time, patience, kindness and mutual respect, the world will soon see the light at the end of this very dark tunnel.
